About Natalie

Hi, I’m Natalie.

I’m a Speech-Language Therapist with a particular interest in adult neurological communication and dementia.

My interest in dementia care is personal. My grandmother lived with Alzheimer’s disease, and our family had very little guidance as her communication and needs changed. We experienced how difficult it can be to support someone you love while feeling unsure of what may help.

That experience continues to shape the way I work. I want adults and their families to feel informed, supported and less alone, with care that respects the person, their history and what matters to them.

My approach

Meet the person. Understand the day. Build from there.

01

Listen first

Understand the person, their history, priorities, routines and support system.

02

Focus on real life

Set goals that connect to daily conversations, relationships and participation.

03

Work together

Include families, carers and facility teams when useful and welcomed.

04

Adapt as needs change

Review what is helping and adjust support with care and flexibility.

For families

Support for the person — and the people beside them.

Sessions can include clear explanations, practical strategies to try at home and space to work through the communication situations that matter to your family.

Ask about family support

For facilities

Collaborative care in familiar surroundings.

Facility visits can include individual assessment and therapy, practical communication recommendations, and guidance for staff or carers.

FAQs

A few things you may be wondering.

What does an adult speech-language therapist help with?

An adult speech-language therapist assesses and supports difficulties with speech, language and cognitive communication following stroke, neurological change or as part of dementia.

Can speech therapy help after a stroke?

Yes. Support may address aphasia, changes in speech clarity or planning, and attention, memory or organisation difficulties that affect communication. Therapy is individualised.

Do you provide swallowing assessments?

Unfortunately, swallowing assessments are not offered. Natalie’s clinical focus is adult communication. If concerns about eating or drinking arise, assessment by a therapist with appropriate swallowing expertise will be recommended.

Where do appointments take place?

This is a mobile practice. Appointments take place in clients’ homes and care facilities. Teletherapy may be considered where appropriate.

How do payment and medical-aid claims work?

At launch, clients will pay the practice directly and receive a detailed paid invoice and receipt to submit to their medical aid for possible reimbursement.

Do you offer services in languages other than English?

Services are currently offered in English only.
